Learning Experience

This 3-month course introduces school students to the world of website development with a perfect balance of technical know-how and creative application. The course ensures that students grasp fundamental concepts while developing a mindset for continuous learning, design thinking, and digital literacy.

Module 1: Foundations of Web Development

Students are introduced to the Internet, browsers, servers, and how websites work. They gain hands-on experience with installing development tools like Visual Studio Code and learning HTML structure and elements.

Module 2: Interactive Elements

Students understand the basics of programming logic, user interaction, and data manipulation. They learn how to build dynamic, user-friendly web pages.

Module 3: Real-World Project Building

Students create full websites from scratch. They work on personal portfolio websites, blogs, and e-commerce site prototypes.

Module 4: Industry Awareness and Career Skills

The final module introduces UI/UX principles, SEO basics, website hosting, deployment, and freelance opportunities. It bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.

Hands-On Projects

Practical learning is at the heart of this course. Each week features mini-projects and real- world simulations to help students solidify concepts and build functional websites.

Month 1:

Week 2: Build your first personal web page using HTML.
Week 4: Create a styled multi-page website using HTML & CSS.

Month 2:

Week 6: Build an interactive webpage using basic JavaScript (e.g., quiz, counter, form validator).
Week 7: Personal Portfolio Website – design and build a responsive, interactive website showcasing the student’s profile.
Week 8: Blog Website – includes post layouts, navigation bars, and styled blog content pages.

Month 3:

Week 9: E-Commerce Website Prototype – design product pages, add cart functionality, search/filter UI.
Week 12: Final Website Project Showcase – includes deployment and peer presentation.

Assignments

Weekly assignments are designed to ensure students practice regularly, reflect on feedback, and strengthen problem-solving skills. These assignments progress from basic coding tasks to building complete webpages and prototypes.

Month 1:

Week 1: Submit a worksheet identifying different types of websites with screenshots and their core purpose.
Week 2: Submit an HTML file with a basic layout including headings, images, and forms.
Week 3: Apply CSS styles to an existing HTML page (color themes, fonts, box models).
Week 4: Create and submit a multi-page website styled with Flexbox or Bootstrap.

Month 2:

Week 5: Complete JavaScript exercises on variables, loops, and conditionals; build a simple calculator or quiz.
Week 6: Add interactivity to a form (validation or dynamic changes) using JavaScript and DOM.
Week 7: Share the link or files for a personal portfolio website with a form and contact section.
Week 8: Design blog layout and create at least two blog entries with formatting and basic interactivity.

Month 3:

Week 9: Submit the layout and homepage for the e-commerce website prototype.
Week 10: Create a flowchart or plan for website deployment using a free hosting platform.
Week 11: Submit UI/UX designs (low-fidelity wireframe) made using Canva or Figma for a sample site.
Week 12: Submit final project files, portfolio link, and a reflection note on learning outcomes.
